Today Tonight interviews Andrew Aston - Adult literacy issues in the job application process

In Morgan's Summer 09 eNews edition, we focused on the literacy of the adult population, particularly given the need for job seekers to put their best foot forward when applying for positions.

With possibly more candidates coming onto the market for less available jobs, having poor spelling and grammar could be a deciding factor when all else is equal. Some of the questions we investigate are:

  • What importance should recruiters place on these skills?
  • How can candidates ensure they get it right?
  • Should our education system go back to focusing on the basics of writing, reading and arithmetic?

In January 2009 Andrew Aston, Managing Director, was asked by Channel's 7's Today Tonight to comment on adult literacy in Australia.
