For many years now, our client has been a genuine global leading supplier of Portable Air conditioners, Split System Heater/Coolers, Portable Heater and Humidifiers to the major electrical retailers here in Australia.

About the role

Due to an impending retirement, they now seek an ambitious and experienced Service Manager. The Service Manager provides technical support to all internal staff and external customers from retailers, service agents and technical bodies within the Australian and New Zealand markets.
We are looking for a very self-motivated candidate with a strong technical background within the HVAC space.  Ideally, this individual will have a solid demonstrated history with air conditioning systems. Vital to the success in this role, is the ability to work autonomously in a helpful and professional manner. 
Specific job responsibilities for the Service Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support to retailers, projects, service agents, end users.
  • Provide timely and effective solutions to customer problems
  • Manage spare parts including stock control
  • Manage product repairs
  • Maintain and develop a network of service agents
  • Work with marketing and sales to assist in product development
  • Ability to perform technical product training
  • Liaise with overseas suppliers for technical support, regulations and certifications.
  • Understand AU/NZ regulations.
  • Ensure high quality control.
  • Ability to read and understand exploded diagrams.
  • Approving payments and warranty work orders. 
  • Manage a safe work environment
  • Regular contact with Italy including regular meetings to learn, understand and update.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have a very high sense of urgency, is organised, excellent at building rapport, a strong problem solver and has excellent follow up skills. Five or more years of commercial sales experience in the HVAC industry or similar.
  • A restricted electrical license and good understand of electrical circuits.
  • Knowledge of HVAC/Hydronic systems, equipment, service parts, and controls.
  • Strategic thinking: ability to anticipate and respond to environmental changes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to grow and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience working with wholesalers, retailers, architects, builders, service agents, manufacturer representatives and end users.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and project tracking software).
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to help customers find solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills - listening, speaking, and written.
  • Team player who works well individually, as well as part of a team.
  • High degree of customer intelligence to identify underlying customer needs.
  • Commercial acumen to understand.
  • Willingness to travel. Ability to analysis competitive markets for relevant products.
  • Highly motivated to respond quickly and get things done right away.
  • All candidates must pass background check, pre-employment physical and drug screening.
